Two Killed in Sihanoukville Night Club Fire

SIHANOUKVILLE: A fire broke out at a nightclub called Julie & Anna Tokyo in Sihanoukville on Monday, killing two men and one woman while being rushed to the hospital, and injuring two others.

This incident occurred on Monday night, 30 January 2023, around 8 pm in Village 3, Sangkat 3, Sihanoukville.

Authorities have initially concluded that club fire was caused by negligence while welding the roof. The welding spatter reportedly fell on the club's sofa, causing it to erupt in flames. Many staff are reported to have panicked, suffocated and fainted inside the club.

Two firetruck water units were used to put out the fire by 9:30 pm. The two victims who died included the roof welder and a waitress.

After the incident, authorities brought the club owner and manager to the Sihanoukville Police Inspectorate for further questioning.
